About Hobo Wine Company
Hobo Wine Company is the sprawling, values-driven project of Kenny Likitprakong, a former skateboarder who grew up around wine, his father managed a Sonoma winery from 1972, and launched Hobo in 2002 with just two barrels of Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel. The name nods to his early days as a winemaker with no fixed home, borrowing space and grapes wherever he could. From that scrappy start he built a business now based in Santa Rosa, making tens of thousands of cases a year.
The philosophy has held steady: affordable, fresher, lower-alcohol wines meant for the dinner table rather than the trophy shelf, farmed organically, a style some fondly call hippie wine. Kenny works with a wide network of vineyards across Sonoma and beyond, and the wines span an unusually broad range of varietals under several labels, including Camp, the experimental Folk Machine and Banyan, a father-son project of Thai-inspired whites.
Hobo is a genuinely down-to-earth operation, and visits to the Santa Rosa winery are casual and by appointment, a chance to taste widely across the labels and meet the family behind some of Sonoma County's best-value, food-friendly wines.
