About Holdredge Wines

Holdredge Wines is a small, family-owned Pinot Noir specialist housed in a distinctive big red barn on Front Street, just off the Healdsburg Square and down by the Russian River. John and Carri Holdredge founded it in 2001, John, a former attorney and journalist and dedicated fly fisherman, makes the wine, while Carri, whose palate John swears by, weighs in on the final blends. The barn doubles as winery and tasting room, so a visit comes with a direct peek into the production side.

Pinot Noir is the heart of it. Holdredge releases ten to a dozen different Pinots most years, largely single-vineyard bottlings from prized Russian River sites like Saralee's, Bucher and Rochioli, plus Sonoma Mountain and high-elevation Sonoma Coast vineyards; the flagship Russian River cuvee blends many vineyards and clones into the year's best expression. Small amounts of Syrah and Zinfandel round things out, with total production around 3,000 cases.

The tasting room is refreshingly no-frills and welcoming, open on weekends with walk-ins encouraged, a relaxed, unpretentious stop for Pinot lovers a short walk from the plaza.
