Horton changed what Virginia plants: Dennis Horton's 1988 Viognier proved the state's signature white before the state knew it had one, and his Norton revival, Rhone experiments and grape-zoo curiosity, poured from a stone-and-cave Gordonsville winery, reshaped the industry's palette.
