About Imagery Estate Winery
Imagery Estate Winery is the most artistically distinctive and varietally adventurous wine estate in the Sonoma Valley. Joe Benziger, who built the Benziger Family Winery with his family before establishing Imagery as his personal creative project, founded the label with a dual commitment: commission original artwork for every wine label, and produce every wine from an unusual or unexpected varietal that California producers rarely explore seriously.
The result is a winery unlike any other in the state. Over 30 varietals have been produced under the Imagery label, Barbera, Lagrein, Tempranillo, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Arneis, Verdelho, and dozens of others, each accompanied by an original artwork commissioned specifically for that wine from a rotating roster of Bay Area and international artists. The Imagery Art Collection, housed at the estate, spans over 200 original works and constitutes one of California's most genuine and extensive private wine-art collections.
The Highway 12 Glen Ellen tasting room and grounds, walk-in daily, families welcome, picnic grounds with Sonoma Mountain views, provide access to the full Imagery varietal and artistic program in an estate setting that feels genuinely creative and experimental rather than commercially polished.
