About Imagine Wine
Imagine Wine does something almost nobody else in the valley does: it ages. Winemaker Ross Jay Rankin, in the industry since the late 1990s and making Imagine since 2004, builds his Aged by Design reds through whole-berry fermentations and then rests them in at least half new oak for two to six years, plus further bottle age, releasing layered wines years after most producers would have sold theirs.
The signature Paradise Mountain Syrah comes exclusively from a single vineyard in the eastern hills of Santa Barbara County and spends six years in barrel, joined by Cabernet, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Barbera, French Colombard and playful bottlings like Pearl Bubbles.
Tastings happen in the Living Room, an intimate art-filled space at the Industrial Wine Works on Buellton's Industrial Way, where Ross and his wife LynDee pour personally, share a lifetime of adventures, and display stone sculpture by Blake Rankin. Open Thursday through Monday afternoons, with Tuesday and Wednesday sometimes available by appointment.
