About Iron Hub Winery
Iron Hub Winery is named for the iron hub — the central wheel component of historic gold-mining equipment found on the El Dorado County property, a reminder that this land was worked by miners before it was worked by grape growers. The hub is the central piece of a wheel, the component through which all motion and force passes; the name declares the winery as a central hub in the El Dorado County wine community.
The Perry Creek Road estate in Somerset produces Zinfandel, Barbera, Grenache, and Petite Sirah from El Dorado County vineyard sources at elevations between 2,500 and 3,200 feet — the high altitude that gives El Dorado County its distinctive cool-night, warm-day growing character. The mining equipment heritage and the current wine program represent two eras of El Dorado County land use, separated by generations.
The daily walk-in format is dog-friendly, picnic-welcoming, and family-hospitable.
