About Jacob Toft Wines
Jacob Toft is a self-made Paso story: he put himself through Cal Poly, philosophy major, viticulture minor, working restaurants and the Wine Vault under Ed Sauret while pouring alongside Villa Creek's Cris Cherry, then apprenticed through J. Lohr, Dover Canyon and Garretson before six formative vintages under Stephan Asseo at L'Aventure, where he absorbed the creed that quality begins in the vineyard. His first vintage came in 2000, made at Garretson, and for fifteen years he worked as a self-described gypsy winemaker, borrowing corners of other people's cellars.
The wandering ended in 2015 when Toft settled into Tin City at 2929 Limestone Way, where he and his wife Kelly hand-craft big red blends, Rhone, Bordeaux, Petite Sirah and Zinfandel, from top Central Coast sites spanning Santa Barbara to the Santa Lucia Highlands. Robert Parker scores above 90 points once sold out vintages in a single day, the New York Times named him among Paso's rising stars, and his grandparents' historic Paso Robles home still graces the label. Tastings pour daily from 10am to 4pm.
