About JADA Vineyard & Winery
Jada began in 1999 when Jack Messina, a second-generation Sicilian immigrant from Brooklyn, converted golden barley fields in the Willow Creek District to vines, one of the pioneering plantings of Paso's modern west side. The name, coined by 2005, weaves Hebraic and Eastern meanings, thankful one and jade's perfection and constancy, and the estate's hilltop terraces rise to 1,300 feet on shale, limestone and fossil-strewn soils just 17 miles from the Pacific. Wines like Hell's Kitchen, named for where Josh Messina's grandparents met, and the father-son JackJohn blend kept the family story in every bottle.
The winemaking lineage reads like a Paso all-star roster: Scott Hawley, Eric Jensen, Napa's Anthony Biagi, Joshua Harp and David Galzignato all shaped the program now led by Nate Hall. The Riboli family of San Antonio Winery, Italian winemakers across four generations, acquired the estate and continued the organic conversion begun in 2014, certified by organic in 2022, making Jada one of the west side's few organically farmed estate wineries. Jeb Dunnuck has placed Jada wines in his Top 100 three years running, and the treehouse-style tasting room, Oak Lounge and Bowery Garden pour estate Rhone and Bordeaux wines above the vines on Vineyard Drive.
