About Kynsi Winery
Kynsi, Finnish for talon, is the Edna Valley winery of Don and Gwen Othman, who converted a 1940s dairy into their cellar and adopted the barn owl, resident rodent patrol of the old dairy barn, as their emblem. The Othmans built a reputation for refined Pinot Noir from top Edna Valley and nearby sites, along with Chardonnay, Syrah and small-lot specialties.
Don Othman also left a mark on cellars worldwide as the inventor of the Bulldog Pup, a gas-pressure racking tool now standard equipment in fine wineries. The tasting room in the converted dairy, surrounded by estate vines off Corbett Canyon Road, remains one of the valley's most personal, family-run visits.
