About Lieu Dit Winery
Lieu Dit brought the Loire to Santa Barbara: founded by sommelier Eric Railsback and winemaker Justin Willett, the label devotes itself to Loire varieties, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Melon and Gamay, grown in county soils and made with French restraint. The name means a named place, Burgundy's term for unclassified crus.
The Chenin and Cabernet Franc in particular earned trade devotion, proving the county could do savory, mineral Loire idioms. A sommelier's thesis, convincingly argued.
