About Lincourt Vineyards

Lincourt Vineyards was Bill Foley's first Santa Barbara County winery, founded in 1996 when the Sta. Rita Hills was still largely undiscovered, and named for his daughters Lindsay and Courtney. The wines come from estate vineyards in the now-coveted cool-climate AVA, rolling hillside sites with lean soils, big day-night temperature swings and a long growing season.

The focus is small-lot, sustainably farmed Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, many bottlings named for the women who shaped Foley's life, from his wife to his grandmother, crafted today by winemaker Lorna Kreutz. Gruner Veltliner and Cabernet Sauvignon round out the list.

The setting is one of the valley's most charming: a former dairy just outside Solvang, where the tasting room occupies an original 1926 Sears Craftsman kit home shaded by California pepper trees, overlooking the Alamo Pintado vineyard. Seated tastings run about 90 minutes with vineyard views, dogs are welcome, and reservations are recommended; the estate has recently been running weekend-focused hours during improvements, so check before a midweek visit.
