About Lutum Wines
Lutum was a small-production partnership between Sonoma vineyard owner Bill Price and Santa Barbara winemaker Gavin Chanin, founded in 2012 and named for the Latin word for soil. From a Lompoc winery, it made acclaimed single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from sites including Sanford and Benedict and La Rinconada in the Sta. Rita Hills, Bien Nacido in the Santa Maria Valley, and Durell and Gap's Crown on the Sonoma Coast, in a native-yeast, unfined and unfiltered style.
The partners announced in February 2019 that Lutum was winding down, with each refocusing on his own project: Price on Three Sticks Wines and Chanin on Chanin Wine Company, where several of the same vineyard designates continue.
