About m2 Wines
m2 Wines started in 2004 as winemaker Layne Montgomery's project, and it has stayed closer to a working winery than a wine-country destination. The draw is the winemaking rather than the staging.
Zinfandel is the backbone, but the lineup reaches further than most Lodi rooms: Petite Sirah, Tannat and Vermentino turn up alongside blends and limited releases that shift by vintage. Fruit comes from Lodi and from selected sites in the Sierra Foothills and Napa Valley, so not every bottle is Lodi-grown, and the consistent thread is Montgomery's hand rather than one estate vineyard.
That range is the reason to stop. Few places in the region let you set a familiar old-vine Zinfandel next to a Tannat and a Vermentino in one sitting.
The tasting room keeps daily afternoon hours and takes walk-ins when there is room, though larger groups do better with a reservation. Published visitor information describes the property as family- and pet-friendly; confirm current rules on event days before arriving with either.
