About Maggy Hawk
Maggy Hawk is a celebrated Pinot Noir estate in the Deep End of Mendocino County's Anderson Valley, part of the Jackson Family Wines portfolio. Proprietor Barbara Banke bought the property in 1994 and planted it to Pinot Noir starting in 2000, on cool, fog-influenced slopes just miles from the Pacific Ocean near Philo, and the label was launched with the 2007 vintage.
The winery is named for Barbara Banke's champion thoroughbred, and its bottlings honor the racehorse's progeny with names such as Jolie, Afleet and Stormin'. Farming very low yields across a patchwork of blocks, clones and soils, and drawing on additional Anderson Valley sites, winemaker Sarah Wuethrich crafts single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay prized for their balance and structure.
Maggy Hawk opened a tasting room on its Anderson Valley estate near Philo in early 2022, with visits offered by appointment. Because it is a small, highly allocated producer, it is best to book ahead and confirm current tasting options and hours before planning a visit.
