About Marietta Cellars
Marietta Cellars is one of California's most beloved and long-running value wine producers. Founded in 1980 by Chris Bilbro — father of Sam Bilbro of Idlewild Wines — the winery built its reputation on the Old Vine Red blend, a consistently excellent Zinfandel-based field blend produced from old vines across Sonoma and Mendocino counties that retails for under $20 and drinks like wines twice the price.
In 2025, winemaker and sole owner Scot Bilbro (son of Chris) opened a stunning new tasting room near the Healdsburg Plaza — a bright, contemporary space designed by his wife Lisa Steinkamp, an architectural designer. The Press Democrat specifically featured it in their Best New Sonoma County Tasting Rooms of 2025 roundup, noting the small-lot tasting room wines that highlight an intriguing array of varieties including Zinfandel, Riesling, and Trousseau.
Marietta farms 200 acres of vineyards across Sonoma and Mendocino counties — giving the winery a breadth of sourcing that few small producers can match. The new tasting room finally gives Healdsburg visitors direct access to wines that have been discovered primarily through retail for over 40 years.
At its Alexander Valley, Sonoma County location, Marietta Cellars presents a featured lineup that includes Old Vine Red, Zinfandel, Riesling, and Trousseau. Together, these bottles provide a focused introduction to the varieties, vineyard sources, and style that define the winery's current portfolio.
