About Monserate Winery

Monserate Winery sits at 2757 Gird Road in Fallbrook, a family-owned San Diego County estate built on land that spent 56 years as a public golf course before the family revitalized the 116-acre property into a working vineyard and winery. Work began in 2016 with a simple goal, to preserve the beauty and integrity of Gird Valley, and today the estate rolls across hills dotted with century-old oaks, towering sycamores, and tranquil lakes.

The wines are estate grown and bottled on site. Fallbrook's temperate coastal climate closely resembles the growing conditions of several Italian provinces, and the family leans into that match, farming roughly 16 grape varieties with a strong emphasis on Italian styles alongside more familiar California grapes. The result is a lineup that feels distinct within San Diego County's wine landscape.

Beyond the tasting room, Monserate runs an on-site Italian-style kitchen serving wood-fired pizzas, salads, and Italian dishes, and the grounds double as a sought-after wedding and event venue set among the vines and lakes. The winery is open to the public most days, about 45 minutes from downtown San Diego, and reservations are recommended for tastings.

"A former Fallbrook golf course reborn as a lake-dotted, Italian-leaning estate, Monserate is one of San Diego County's most scenic places to taste and linger over lunch."

Wine club membership brings complimentary tastings, member discounts, and priority access to estate releases. For travelers exploring the San Diego County wine region beyond Ramona and the coast, Monserate offers a scenic, food-friendly stop in the Fallbrook hills.
