About Murphy-Goode Winery

Murphy-Goode Winery is one of Healdsburg's most approachable and genuinely fun wine brands. Founded in 1985 by Tim Murphy, Dale Goode, and Dave Ready in the heart of Alexander Valley, the winery built its reputation on accessible, food-friendly Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon produced from their Alexander Valley estate at honest prices.

The brand became nationally famous in 2009 when they ran a viral marketing campaign offering $120,000 for someone to live at the winery for a year, taste wines, and tweet about the experience. Over 9,000 people applied. The stunt cemented Murphy-Goode's identity as the most social-media-forward, fun-first winery in Sonoma County.

The downtown Healdsburg tasting room on Matheson Street, steps from the Plaza, offers the most accessible introduction to Murphy-Goode's Alexander Valley lineup. The Liar's Dice Zinfandel and Fumé Blanc are longtime favorites, and the walking-distance location makes it a natural first or last stop on any Healdsburg wine day.

At its Alexander Valley, Sonoma County location, Murphy-Goode Winery presents a featured lineup that includes Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Fumé Blanc, Liar's Dice Zinfandel, and Chardonnay. Together, these bottles provide a focused introduction to the varieties, vineyard sources, and style that define the winery's current portfolio.

"The winery that once paid someone $120k to live on the premises and tweet about wine. Downtown Healdsburg tasting room, fun-first philosophy, and cons"
