About Mustang Mountain Vineyard

Mustang Mountain Vineyard is one of the Wyoming listings where the vineyard itself should be central to the story. Located near Lovell with views toward the Big Horn Mountains, the family operation was established in 2010 by Nancey and Larry Blair. Their daughter, Nicolle Laffin, joined the business in 2016 and later completed viticulture and winemaking studies through Texas Tech. The property now has more than 800 vines representing four varieties, giving visitors a rare chance to see how wine grapes are actually grown in northern Wyoming rather than only tasting wine made from fruit sourced elsewhere. The visitor experience is intentionally educational.

Mustang Mountain offers vineyard tours that discuss the challenges of Wyoming grape growing and the cold-hardy hybrid vines selected for the site. Tours conclude in the tasting room, which creates a natural vineyard-to-glass progression that is especially valuable for travelers unfamiliar with cold-climate wine. The winery recommends the summer period, particularly June through August, for seeing the vineyard at its most active. Seasonality matters when planning this stop. Current first-party information lists tasting-room hours from May through September on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.; October through December on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.; and January through April by appointment.

The winery also asks groups larger than five to call ahead. Those details should remain highly visible in the Wino Notion listing because a winter traveler cannot assume the same access as a summer road-tripper. Beyond standard tastings, the property can accommodate private gatherings, and its mountain backdrop gives it a stronger destination feel than a conventional storefront tasting room. For Wino Notion, Mustang Mountain is best presented as a small, family-run agritourism stop where the physical reality of Wyoming viticulture is part of the attraction. The fit is strongest for road-trippers, vineyard-curious visitors and guests who enjoy informal education, scenery and personal-scale hospitality. A future Wino Notion field visit should document the varieties currently in bottle, the vineyard tour in detail, and how the tasting changes across the growing season.
