About Naumann Vineyards
Naumann Vineyards is one of Montebello Road's quiet treasures: a small family estate in unincorporated Cupertino with panoramic views over Silicon Valley, where owner-winemaker Don Naumann bought the land in 1987, planted vines in 1994, and bonded the winery in 1997. Warm days and cool mountain nights do the vineyard work; hand harvesting and small-batch craft do the rest.
Every wine comes exclusively from Santa Cruz Mountains fruit, spanning whites and reds released in boutique quantities - the kind of production where the annual release is a genuine event. And at Naumann it literally is: the winery opens to the public only about eight days each year, built around the appellation's Passport Days, wine club days, and the Annual Release Party each August.
Beyond those open days, visits happen by appointment - email the winery to schedule a private tasting - and the wines travel to the Los Altos and Capitola Art & Wine festivals each season. Join the 'In The Vines' newsletter or watch the events calendar to catch an open day; the rarity is part of the charm.
