About Once & Future Wine

Once & Future Wine is one of the most intellectually exciting small producers operating in Sonoma County today. Jeff Reilly founded the label in 2013 with a mission directly parallel to Bedrock Wine Co.'s: to make world-class wine from California's surviving old-vine heritage varieties, the Zinfandel, Carignane, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Mataro, and other field-blend varieties planted by 19th-century California immigrants that are slowly disappearing from the landscape.

The SORBET organic tasting at Fort Mason in August 2025 specifically featured Once & Future as one of the progressive Sonoma Valley producers, alongside Bedrock, Gundlach Bundschu, and others, confirming the winery's standing in the California sustainable wine community.

Jeff's approach combines biodynamic farming with deeply traditional winemaking, native yeast, minimal additions, and the patience to let old vines express their character without interference. The results are wines of genuine complexity and historical resonance that connect drinkers to the deep roots of California wine culture.

At its Sonoma County, Sonoma County location, Once & Future Wine presents a featured lineup that includes Old Vines Field Blend, Carignane, Zinfandel, and Grenache. Together, these bottles provide a focused introduction to the varieties, vineyard sources, and style that define the winery's current portfolio.
