About Passaggio Wines
Passaggio Wines at 19 East Napa Street is one of the Sonoma Valley's most distinctive and philosophically committed small-production labels, founded in 2008 by Cindy Cosco with a singular focus on unoaked Chardonnay — a winemaking choice that has defined the label's identity and generated both devoted fans and genuine critical recognition for an approach that California wine has traditionally undervalued.
The Passaggio philosophy is straightforward and radical: Chardonnay fermented and aged in stainless steel, with no oak influence whatsoever, to produce a white wine that expresses pure varietal character, natural acidity, and genuine fruit transparency rather than the vanilla and butter flavors that barrel fermentation typically contributes. The result is wines that taste more like unoaked white Burgundy — lean, mineral, food-friendly, and genuinely refreshing.
The downtown Sonoma Plaza location on East Napa Street puts Passaggio within easy walking distance of the historic mission, the plaza's restaurants and shops, and the many other tasting rooms that make downtown Sonoma California's most walkable wine tasting destination. Walk-ins are welcome daily from 11am to 6pm with a $20 starting fee.
