Pey-Marin Winery — Marin County Winery & Tasting Room

Pey-Marin Winery is named for the conjunction of Pey (the French word for 'land' or 'territory,' a reference to the maritime Marin County landscape's French-derived name origins) and Marin (the county itself, from the Spanish Bahía de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora, later simplified to refer to the Miwok leader Marin). The dual Pey-Marin naming declares both the French linguistic heritage of the place and the place itself. Marin County's unique geographic position — surrounded by ocean and bay on three sides, with the Pacific's direct influence more intense than anywhere else in the Bay Area — creates extraordinary growing conditions for Riesling and Pinot Noir in one of California's most unusual and smallest wine appellations.
