About Rayson Winery & Vineyards
Rayson Winery & Vineyards occupies one of the Yadkin Valley's most established estates. JOLO Brands, a subsidiary of JOLO Winery & Vineyards, acquired the property from RayLen Vineyards in December 2023, and JW and Kristen Ray reopened it as Rayson - a name honoring their sons, Joey and Logan, just as the previous owners had named RayLen for their daughters, Rachel and Len.
The vines here were planted by the Neely family around 1999 and 2000 on what had been a Davie County dairy farm for close to a century, so the estate now farms mature plantings approaching a quarter-century in age. Rayson leans heavily on European vinifera, with a focus on single-varietal bottlings including Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Riesling, positioning it as a more classically styled counterpart to JOLO in Pilot Mountain.
Since taking over, the Ray family has renovated the tasting room, expanded the outdoor seating and added a Founder's Reserve Lounge. Bistro Europa, the on-site restaurant, opened in May 2024 and earned an OpenTable Diner's Choice Award within three months, then expanded that October with an indoor dining room. The winery also hosts Sunday brunch, wine club pickup parties, vineyard tours and its signature Rayson Around the World festival.
