About Verde Valley
The Verde Valley is Arizona wine's most visitor-friendly region — a combination of genuine quality wine production and one of the most dramatic landscape settings in American wine country. The cluster of tasting rooms in Cottonwood's Old Town, Clarkdale's historic mining district, and the vineyard estates along Page Springs Road represents the largest concentration of Arizona winery tasting rooms outside of Scottsdale.
Cottonwood's Old Town wine corridor has developed into a walkable tasting destination that draws visitors who might have come primarily for Sedona but discover a compelling reason to spend an extra day. The canyon-country scenery, the Verde River flowing below limestone cliffs, and the ponderosa pine-scented air at 3,300–4,000 feet create an environmental context that makes wine taste better — or at least more memorable.
Verity from a winemaking perspective is diverse: the Verde Valley's warmer, lower elevations compared to Sonoita or Willcox favor different varieties — Merlot, Chardonnay, and Grenache-based blends that have found genuine success at several estates. Caduceus Cellars, the winery founded by musician Maynard James Keenan, has helped put the region on the national map while Page Springs Cellars has become a benchmark for Verde Valley style.
