About RH Wines at Redhawk Vineyard
This site has been Redhawk Vineyard for a long time, and the name still sits on the gate. What changed is who runs it: Tracey Rogers and Arron Bell took it on and now trade as RH Wines, describing themselves as stewarding the next generation of an established Willamette winery rather than starting a new one.
Rogers is a Salem native who came from a career in sales at a title company and handles the day-to-day and the hospitality. Bell brings more than two decades of winemaking behind him and makes the wine. The framing is deliberately unfussy, and visitors consistently describe an informal, talkative room rather than a polished cellar door.
The site does most of the work. It sits on a hilltop in the Eola-Amity Hills, four miles from downtown Salem, looking east across the Willamette Valley to Mount Hood. There is a remodelled tasting room, a covered patio and a lawn set up for picnics.
The pour is a six-wine flight, available daily, and the range is broader than the neighbourhood default: estate Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, Riesling, a Dolcetto rose and a red blend of Merlot, Barbera and Mourvedre, which is not a combination you will find often in Oregon.
