About Robert Keenan Winery
Robert Keenan bought 180 acres on Spring Mountain in 1974, the abandoned site of the 19th-century Peter Conradi Winery, whose stone building had crumbled to ruins since Prohibition. Keenan cleared tree stumps and rock from the land, replanted it to Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and rebuilt the winery using the original Conradi stone walls, celebrating Keenan's first harvest in 1977.
Robert's son Michael took over the estate in 1998 and replanted the vineyards for higher quality, later adding a solar power system that now covers all of the property's energy needs. Keenan remains family-owned, working alongside consulting winemaker Nils Venge, the first American winemaker to earn a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker.
