About Ryan Darrall Wine

Ryan Darrall Wine is a small Suisun Valley project built from a winemaker's lifetime of hands-on work rather than a newly adopted wine-country image. Ryan Darrall grew up around the Napa Valley wine business, spending school summers pruning vines, helping on bottling lines and cleaning tasting glasses. He later moved into cellar work, where the physical routines of harvest, fermentation, barrel work and cleanup became the foundation of his winemaking interest. During his twenties, he combined harvest production work with wine sales and the experience of building a small Napa brand.

Suisun Valley became the focus of his next chapter. The winery sits on Gordon Valley Road, where the rural setting and nearby vineyards reflect the smaller, less formal side of the region. The current portfolio includes a dry Grenache rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, a fruit-forward red wine and Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, with vintages and available releases changing over time. The range is concise enough for visitors to understand the house style without working through an oversized menu.

The tasting room operates Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is intended for guests age 21 and older. Tables can be reserved through the winery, which is useful for weekend visits or travelers building a timed Suisun Valley itinerary. The later closing time also makes Ryan Darrall a convenient final wine stop on days when several nearby tasting rooms close earlier.

This winery is best for visitors who value a direct, personal wine story. The emphasis is on the progression from vineyard and cellar labor to an independent label, with Suisun Valley providing room for the project to grow. The setting and portfolio are more intimate than a large estate, making the experience an useful counterpoint to the region's bigger hospitality properties.

Suisun Valley sits in western Solano County, just east of Napa Valley and directly west of Fairfield, tucked between the Vaca Mountains and the Howell Mountains. It was recognized as an American Viticultural Area in 1982, among the earliest AVAs in California, and it has quietly grown wine grapes since the 1800s. Cool marine air draws in off San Pablo Bay each afternoon, and the valley runs roughly a 14 degree temperature swing from its lower to upper reaches, giving the region long, even ripening across more than twenty grape varieties. Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc are the calling cards, alongside Chardonnay, Barbera, Grenache, and other warm-climate grapes. Locals sometimes call Suisun Valley "Napa's backside," and the comparison is fair: family farms, unhurried tasting rooms, and honest pricing give it the feel of Napa a half century ago. Most wineries here are family owned, and it is common for the person pouring your wine to be the one who grew and made it.

Hours, tasting fees, and reservation policies change with the season, so it is worth checking the winery's website or calling ahead before you visit, especially on weekends. The details on this profile may have shifted since publication, and the producer is always the most authoritative source.

A boutique label on the valley's Gordon Valley edge.

Wino Notion Review
Visit pending, based on winery profile & reputation
What Wino Notion likes is the clarity of Ryan Darrall's story. The brand grows directly from vineyard, cellar and sales experience, and the tasting room keeps the focus on a compact set of wines rather than a sprawling lifestyle concept. The 6 p.m. closing time is also helpful when planning a full Suisun Valley day.
