About Single Leaf Vineyards
Single Leaf Vineyards is named for the individual leaf — the most elemental unit of the vine, the single photosynthetic surface through which a grapevine captures sunlight and builds the sugars, acids, and flavor compounds that become wine. The name declares a philosophy of reduction: not the whole vineyard, not the entire vintage, not the large production — but the single leaf, the fundamental unit, as the lens through which the estate understands viticulture.
The Fair Play Road estate in Somerset has been producing wine since 1990, with three decades of attention to the specific Fair Play AVA terrain. Zinfandel and Chardonnay from El Dorado County high-elevation vineyard blocks carry the single-leaf philosophy: focused, specific, reduced to essentials.
