About Sol Rouge
Sol Rouge grows its fruit in the red volcanic dirt of the Red Hills and pours it steps from Clear Lake, at the On the Waterfront building on Third Street in downtown Lakeport. The split personality is the point: mountain-grown Rhone and Mediterranean varieties, served where visitors can walk to the water after the last taste.
The portfolio centers on Rhone grapes, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and friends, shaped by the Red Hills' high-elevation vineyards, obsidian-flecked volcanic soils and long sun hours. Tastings start at $25 and are waived with a two-bottle purchase, and the room's Thursday through Monday schedule runs to 7:30pm, late enough to pair a flight with a lakefront evening.
The tasting room anchors Lakeport's small waterfront wine scene, and it rewards travelers who want their Lake County tasting inside a walkable downtown: restaurants, the lake promenade and Library Park all sit within a couple of blocks. Groups of four or more should reserve ahead; smaller parties can simply walk in.
