About Ceago Vinegarden
Ceago Vinegarden is a 163-acre biodynamic estate on the north shore of Clear Lake in Lake County, between the villages of Nice and Lucerne. It is the realization of a lifelong dream for Jim Fetzer, former president of Fetzer Vineyards, who set out to build a balanced, self-sustaining farm where wine is only part of the story. The name 'Vinegarden' reflects the philosophy of treating the property as a garden with vines rather than a conventional vineyard.
The estate farms roughly 50 acres of vines alongside olive orchards, lavender fields, and vegetable and fruit gardens, all tended with sustainably farmed, organic, and Biodynamic practices. The hacienda-style compound is set on the lakefront with a long pier for boat and seaplane access, and produces small lots of estate wines along with estate olive oil and lavender products.
Ceago's walk-in public tasting room closed in 2014, and the property now operates as a private Biodynamic agro-tourism destination, offering lakeside casita lodging, private events and weddings, a wine club, and online wine sales. Visits are by appointment; contact the winery directly to arrange one.
