About Sosie Wines
Sosie Wines at 452 1st Street East is one of downtown Sonoma's most intellectually engaging and genuinely distinctive small-production tasting rooms, founded in 2009 by Katey and John Doris with a focus on rare and unusual Sonoma County grape varieties that larger producers have largely abandoned. The name "Sosie" is French for doppelganger — the idea of an alternative identity — reflecting the label's commitment to producing wines that offer an alternative to what Sonoma County typically produces.
The flagship production is Trousseau Gris — a rare white grape variety that was once widely planted in Sonoma County but has been reduced to just a handful of surviving blocks. Sosie's Trousseau Gris is one of the most distinctive and intellectually fascinating wines produced in Sonoma County: amber-hued, aromatic, and tasting unlike anything else in the California white wine landscape. The label also produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rosé reflecting the same commitment to quality and site-specificity.
Walk-ins are welcome Thursday through Monday from 11am to 5pm with a $25 starting fee. The First Street East location puts Sosie in the heart of the most walkable wine tasting area in California — a block from the Sonoma Plaza's restaurants and shops.
