About Sosie Wines

Sosie Wines at 452 1st Street East is one of downtown Sonoma's most intellectually engaging and genuinely distinctive small-production tasting rooms, founded in 2009 by Katey and John Doris with a focus on rare and unusual Sonoma County grape varieties that larger producers have largely abandoned. The name "Sosie" is French for doppelganger, the idea of an alternative identity, reflecting the label's commitment to producing wines that offer an alternative to what Sonoma County typically produces.

The flagship production is Trousseau Gris, a rare white grape variety that was once widely planted in Sonoma County but has been reduced to just a handful of surviving blocks. Sosie's Trousseau Gris is one of the most distinctive and intellectually fascinating wines produced in Sonoma County: amber-hued, aromatic, and tasting unlike anything else in the California white wine landscape. The label also produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rosé reflecting the same commitment to quality and site-specificity.

Walk-ins are welcome Thursday through Monday from 11am to 5pm with a $25 starting fee. The First Street East location puts Sosie in the heart of the most walkable wine tasting area in California, a block from the Sonoma Plaza's restaurants and shops.

"Sosie is the Sonoma Plaza tasting room for people who want to discover something genuinely new, a small-production label obsessed with Trousseau Gris and other rare varieties that Sonoma has mostly forgotten."
