About Spicewood Vineyards
Spicewood Vineyards is a genuine estate winery operating a 32-acre vineyard in the rolling hills near Spicewood, northwest of Austin. Founded by Ron Yates before he went on to launch his eponymous label, Spicewood has maintained its identity as a hands-on, vineyard-driven operation focused on wines made entirely from Texas-grown fruit.
The estate grows Tempranillo, Mourvèdre, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, and several other varieties suited to the warm Hill Country climate, producing wines with real sense of place. The tasting room experience is intimate and personal — visitors often interact directly with the winemaking team.
The property's location near Lake Travis makes it an appealing day-trip from Austin, combining vineyard visits with lake recreation. The tasting room is unpretentious and welcoming, with outdoor seating overlooking the vines.
