About Stony Ridge Winery
Stony Ridge Winery is named for the ridgeline terrain — the stony elevation where rocky soils support vine growth through stress-induced concentration rather than abundant nutrients. The stony ridge above the Livermore Valley floor creates drainage and soil character that differs markedly from the valley alluvium below: shallow soils, rock content, and the drainage that forces vine roots deeper in search of moisture and nutrients.
Established in 1975, Stony Ridge is one of Livermore Valley's historically founding post-renewal wine estates. The Tesla Road estate produces Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel from Livermore Valley estate and purchased vineyard sources with the stony-ridge-drainage philosophy the topographic naming implies.
