About Styring Vineyards

Styring opened in 2003 as the first winery on Ribbon Ridge Road, three years before the AVA was approved, and has been making wine on the ridge ever since. It is family owned and family run, sustainably farmed, and describes itself as off the beaten path, which the visitor reviews back up: more than one mentions getting the GPS going before setting off.

The portfolio is broader than most of the ridge. Alongside estate Pinot Noir there is estate Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, a sparkling wine, and both select and estate dessert wines. That range is unusual for a small Ribbon Ridge producer, where the default is Pinot and little else.

There is a cave on site as well as the tasting space and patio, and the winery offers vineyard walks and winery tours alongside the tasting. On a quiet day you may well end up talking to the winemaker.

The tasting fee sits at the low end deliberately, and the winery has been direct about why: it does not want to price people out. Non-alcoholic drinks are complimentary. The views run out across the vineyard toward the Oregon Coast Range.

First on Ribbon Ridge Road in 2003, and still pouring Petit Verdot where everyone else pours Pinot.
