About Suisun Creek Winery
Suisun Creek Winery is a family-owned vineyard and winery rooted in four generations of grape growing. The visitor experience takes place on Morrison Lane, reached by traveling through the vineyards to a refurbished airplane hangar that now serves as the tasting setting. That combination of working agricultural land, adapted farm architecture and outdoor seating gives the property a distinctly rural identity.
The family currently grows seven grape varieties: Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, Charbono and Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaker Brian Babcock and the vineyard team manage the vines as well as the resulting wines, giving the tasting room a direct connection to the agricultural work surrounding it. The mix includes grapes closely associated with Suisun Valley, such as Petite Sirah and Sauvignon Blanc, alongside less common varieties such as Charbono and Verdelho. Current flight selections depend on the releases available at the winery.
Public tasting hours are Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome during those hours, and a standard tasting is currently offered for $15. Reservations are not required for normal visits. Parties of ten or more need to call or email in advance so the winery can arrange an appropriate table. Guests can also purchase a glass and relax on the rustic patio among the vineyards.
Suisun Creek is a good match for travelers looking for a straightforward farm-winery experience rather than a resort-style property. The airplane-hangar tasting room adds character without distracting from the wines, and the weekend-only schedule keeps the experience closely connected to a small family operation. Because some older regional listings describe the winery as appointment only, visitors can rely on the winery's own current weekend schedule when planning. A quick same-day check remains useful before a long drive or a large-group visit.
Suisun Valley sits in western Solano County, just east of Napa Valley and directly west of Fairfield, tucked between the Vaca Mountains and the Howell Mountains. It was recognized as an American Viticultural Area in 1982, among the earliest AVAs in California, and it has quietly grown wine grapes since the 1800s. Cool marine air draws in off San Pablo Bay each afternoon, and the valley runs roughly a 14 degree temperature swing from its lower to upper reaches, giving the region long, even ripening across more than twenty grape varieties. Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc are the calling cards, alongside Chardonnay, Barbera, Grenache, and other warm-climate grapes. Locals sometimes call Suisun Valley "Napa's backside," and the comparison is fair: family farms, unhurried tasting rooms, and honest pricing give it the feel of Napa a half century ago. Most wineries here are family owned, and it is common for the person pouring your wine to be the one who grew and made it.
Hours, tasting fees, and reservation policies change with the season, so it is worth checking the winery's website or calling ahead before you visit, especially on weekends. The details on this profile may have shifted since publication, and the producer is always the most authoritative source.
