About Tongue Dancer Wines
Tongue Dancer is the personal, passion-driven label of James and Kerry MacPhail, established in Healdsburg in 2012. James is one of Sonoma County's most celebrated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay winemakers, he founded MacPhail Family Wines in 2001 and also crafts wines for other respected labels, and Tongue Dancer is where he makes wine purely for the love of it.
The focus is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, both single-vineyard bottlings and thoughtful blends, sourced from premier Sonoma vineyards spanning the West Sonoma Coast, Petaluma Gap, Russian River Valley and beyond, including the historic Bacigalupi Vineyard, whose fruit went into the Chardonnay that won the 1976 Judgment of Paris. James's touch is deliberately non-interventionist, letting each site speak, and the results are consistently acclaimed, earning ratings in the mid-90s.
Production is tiny and sold largely through the mailing list, so a visit is intimate and personal, arranged by appointment, a chance to taste world-class wine with the people who make it.
