About Helen Wine Country

Helen is one of North Georgia's most unexpected wine destinations — an Alpine-themed mountain resort town where Bavarian storefronts and a Chattahoochee riverfront coexist with serious estate wineries producing Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Chardonnay on the slopes of Yonah Mountain.

The combination of mountain elevation, White County's distinctive soils, and the cool influence of the surrounding Blue Ridge creates growing conditions that suit German-inspired white varieties as naturally as they suit the town's aesthetic. Yonah Mountain Vineyards is the region's standout producer — estate vineyards with panoramic views that are worth the trip on their own.

A visit to Helen works beautifully as an extension of a Dahlonega wine trip. The 30-minute drive between the two towns covers some of North Georgia's most scenic mountain roads.
