About Truffle Pig Winery
Truffle Pig Winery occupies one of the most storied hilltop properties in Temecula Valley wine country. Formerly known as Avensole Winery, and before that Van Roekel Winery, the 21-acre estate along the Rancho California ridgeline has been producing grapes for more than four decades. In early 2025, the property entered a bold new chapter when Robert Renzoni, winemaker Olivia Bue, and Domenic Galleano closed escrow and set about transforming the winery from the ground up. The Renzoni and Galleano families each bring nearly a century of winemaking heritage to the venture, blending Italian tradition with California innovation under a name inspired by the truffle pig's legendary instinct for seeking out what is exceptional.
Winemaker Mollie Haycock leads the cellar program, crafting a lineup that already includes Arneis, Chenin Blanc, Nebbiolo, Grenache, and a Sangiovese and Barbera blend called Market Red. The wines ferment and age in a mix of vessels including terracotta-limestone tanks and concrete fermentation units visible from the tasting room, which was fully renovated and centers around a sleek central bar, lounge area, and floor-to-ceiling views of the working winery. Fifteen acres of estate vineyards are being replanted to reflect the new team's vision, and early releases from Central Coast fruit have already drawn praise from visitors and critics.
Beyond the tasting room, Truffle Pig is home to Domenico's Italian Chop House, a full-service restaurant named in honor of family members on both the Renzoni and Galleano sides. Executive Chef Taylor Israelson runs a menu of Amalfi Coast-inspired flavors and steakhouse classics, from tableside cheese wheel pasta and steak tartare to American Wagyu filets and mushroom marsala. The property's Mediterranean architecture, sweeping 360-degree vineyard panoramas, landscaped gardens, and event terraces make it one of Temecula Valley's most complete wine country destinations. The SWINE Club offers members access to new releases, and the Pig Pen Lounge provides a more casual tasting experience with craft cocktails and small plates alongside the estate wines.
