About Ty Caton Vineyards
Ty Caton Vineyards is Sonoma Valley's most unapologetically bold red wine producer. Ty Caton — a former professional baseball player turned winemaker who brings an athlete's intensity and perfectionism to his craft — farms 65 acres of Kenwood hillside vineyard influenced by the Moon Mountain terrain and produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Zinfandel of extraordinary concentration and structure.
The winemaking philosophy is direct: maximum extraction of what the Kenwood hillside terrain can provide, without the restraint that European-influenced producers in the same AVA pursue. The Tytanium Cabernet Sauvignon — Caton's flagship — consistently earns 90–95 point reviews for its combination of dark fruit concentration, structural tannin, and the genuine mountain terroir character that 65 acres of hillside farming produces in Sonoma Valley's warmest and most powerfully styled red wines.
The downtown Sonoma tasting room on Broadway provides accessible walk-in access to the Ty Caton program alongside the Kenwood estate appointment tastings. The former baseball player's personal story — the transition from professional sports to serious winemaking — and the genuine quality of the wines have built a devoted collector following that regularly visits both Sonoma locations.
