About Wargin Wines Watsonville
This is Wargin's Watsonville room, on Hangar Way, where Denise and Mikael Wargin keep the working cellar alongside a tasting space they have described as a work in progress.
It pours the same list as the Soquel Village room: a deliberately Cal-Italia range that is among the broadest selections of Italian varieties anywhere in the Bay Area, with Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Barbera, Freisa and Petite Sirah beside the Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.
The signature is a red blend of Italian varieties, and the labels, which have won recognition of their own, carry the winery's Fairy Wine Mother.
Where the Soquel room is a small converted antique store in a village, this one is the production side, which suits anyone who would rather see the cellar than the shopfront.
It opens weekends only, against the longer week kept in Soquel.
