About Windwalker Vineyard
Windwalker Vineyard is named for the windwalker — the spiritual concept from several Native American traditions of one who walks with the wind, moving in harmony with the natural forces that shape the landscape. Applied to wine growing on a high-elevation Sierra Foothills ridge, the name declares an estate in harmony with the mountain air currents that make the Fair Play AVA's growing conditions distinctive.
The Perry Creek Road estate at 2,800 to 3,200 feet produces Zinfandel, Grenache, Syrah, and Barbera from Fair Play AVA vineyard blocks where the wind's cooling influence is as important as the soil composition. The daily afternoon wind that flows up the Sierra Nevada slope from the Central Valley below creates the dramatic temperature swings that preserve freshness and extend the growing season.
The daily walk-in experience is dog-friendly, picnic-welcoming, and family-hospitable on one of El Dorado County's most scenic wine routes.
