Sleep in the Vineyard: 159 Wineries Where You Can Stay the Night

The best solution to the drive home is not to make it. We track 159 American wineries with lodging on the property, from guest cottages to tiny homes parked among the vines.

Why it changes the trip

Staying on the property removes the two constraints that shape most wine days: the clock and the driver. You taste at the pace the room sets, eat when the kitchen is ready, and see the vineyard at the hours that actually matter, which are early morning and just before dark.

Wineries with lodging on the property By region, of 159 documented Napa Valley 15 Texas Hill Country 13 Paso Robles 13 Oregon 8 Ohio 6 Sonoma County 6 Pennsylvania 6 Georgia 5 Wineries offering guest houses, cottages, inns, glamping or vineyard stays.
Napa has the most vineyard stays we can document, with Texas Hill Country and Paso Robles right behind.

It is also often cheaper than it sounds. Outside Napa, a vineyard cottage frequently costs less than a mid-range hotel in the nearest town, and it comes with the vines outside the window.

A few we can point to

In the Sierra Foothills, Toogood Estate offers three tiny homes above the Fair Play AVA alongside a wine cave. In Oregon, Abbey Road Farm runs a working farm inn in the Willamette Valley. Abeja in Walla Walla is a restored farmstead with guest suites, and Alamitos puts guests above the Santa Clara Valley.

In the Central Valley, Idle Hour pairs a kitchen with an inn, and Cottage Creek and Cedar View both keep rooms on the property.

How to book one well

Book directly with the winery rather than through a listings site where possible; many keep rooms off the platforms entirely. Ask whether tastings are included for guests, which is common and rarely advertised. And check the minimum stay, because harvest weekends often carry two-night minimums.

Browse the regions in the winery finder or open the map to see what is near your route.

A note on the numbers

These are wineries where we have verified lodging on or adjacent to the property, whether run by the winery or on its grounds. Availability, minimum stays and pricing change constantly, and some of these are single cottages that book months out. Confirm directly.
