Woodenhead Vintners

Woodenhead Vintners is named for the wooden head, either the monumental carved stone heads of Easter Island (moai, the most famous woodenhead-adjacent monuments in human history) or the colloquial English term for someone who is stubbornly committed to their convictions, who won't be talked out of their approach. Both meanings apply to Zina Bower and François Castaing's Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay project.

The River Road estate sources from Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast vineyard sites selected for their maritime character and site-specific expression. The woodenhead philosophy, the stubborn commitment that won't be modified by fashion or critical convention, shapes every sourcing and winemaking decision. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay made the way Zina and François believe they should be made, regardless of what the market thinks it wants.
