About Zenith Vineyard
Zenith Vineyard sits in the Eola-Amity Hills, a chain of hills formed roughly twelve million years ago when the basalt flows that covered the valley buckled into a ridge. The property was originally O'Connor Vineyards, and the Ramey family bought it in 2002 from founder Pat O'Connor - the winery is open about the debt it owes the O'Connors as earlier stewards of the land.
Tim and Kari Ramey replanted and expanded, adding blocks of varying Pinot Noir clones along with Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Auxerrois and Tempranillo across a range of trellis spacings. The property runs to 133 acres with around 83 under vine, farmed by vineyard manager Pedro Martinez, LIVE certified and certified sustainable from the 2013 vintage.
What distinguishes Zenith is how often its name turns up on other producers' labels. Broadley, Adelsheim, St. Innocent, Vincent, Sineann, Seufert, Bjornson and Bryn Mawr have all bottled Zenith Vineyard designates, and the fruit has a reputation for higher acidity, bright red fruit and aromas of bramble and rose petal. Mark Vlossak of St. Innocent makes the estate's own wines.
The site also works as a destination in its own right. There is a tasting lounge, intimate spaces for small groups and a ballroom that handles events from fifteen to five hundred guests, along with vacation rentals on the property including a five-bedroom estate house and two farmhouse bungalows.
