Absente Wines is named from the French absente — the absent, the missing, the one who is not present. The naming carries the weight of loss: wine made in memory of someone absent, the bottle that holds their presence even though they are gone. The Russian River Valley micro-boutique produces Pinot Noir from contracted fog-corridor vineyard sources, its somber naming declaring the depth of feeling that wine can carry — the absent beloved memorialized in each vintage.
