About Adrian Fog Winery

Adrian Fog is a tiny, single-focus winery in Sebastopol, in the cool reaches of the Russian River Valley, devoted almost entirely to Pinot Noir. Owner and winemaker Stewart Dorman has made the wines since the late 1990s, drawing fruit from a handful of cold-climate vineyards across the Sonoma Coast, Mendocino, and the Anderson Valley, and bottling each as a distinct single-vineyard expression. The name plays on the Greek root of Adrian, meaning dark, and the coastal fog that shapes these sites.

Production is very small, on the order of a thousand cases a year across four or five Pinots, and the wines are sold almost entirely through the winery's mailing list rather than shops. That scarcity is part of the appeal for collectors of cool-climate Pinot Noir.

Visits are by appointment only and intentionally low-key. Dorman himself hosts the tastings, often for small groups of six or fewer, in the working cellar on Gravenstein Highway, walking guests through barrel samples and finished bottlings. It is a personal, educational sit-down rather than a polished tasting-room stop, ideal for anyone who wants time with the winemaker and wines they will not find on a store shelf.
