About Anaba Wines

John Thomas Sweazey built careers in computer systems sales and real estate while making small batches of Zinfandel in his garage, until travels through France in the 1970s left him smitten with the wines of the Southern Rhône and Burgundy. In 2006 he founded Anaba in the Carneros region of Sonoma, naming it for the anabatic winds that sweep up the region's slopes, and in 2009 the winery became the first in Northern California to install a wind turbine for electricity.

Now run with his son John Michael, Anaba sources from over 20 growers including Dutton, Teldeschi, and Sangiacomo, with winemaking led by acclaimed Pinot Noir specialists Ross Cobb and Katy Wilson. Tastings long took place in the property's 120-year-old farmhouse before the family opened the elegant Vintners House, and 465 solar panels now join the signature turbine in powering the winery entirely on renewable energy.

Carneros Afternoon Tasting

Friday through Monday tasting on the Bonneau Road estate, Carneros Pinot Noir, Roussanne, and Mourvèdre with vineyard views and the afternoon Anabatic wind that named the winery arriving reliably each day. Dogs and families welcome.
