About Ancient Oak Cellars

Siebert Ranch, a 31-acre former sheep farm on the edge of Santa Rosa, had been in Ken Moholt-Siebert's family for generations when his grandfather Henry began planting Pinot Noir there at age 80. Ken and his wife Melissa took over the farming after Henry's death, launching Ancient Oak Cellars in 2006 with a couple hundred cases of Pinot Noir, naming the winery for the massive old oak at the center of the property, and in 2012 opening downtown Santa Rosa's very first tasting room after city zoning finally allowed it.

Veteran winemaker Greg La Follette joined in 2014 and became a partner in 2016, elevating the roughly 5,000-case, native-ferment portfolio of vineyard-designated Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Sonoma Mountain Bordeaux varieties. The 2017 Tubbs Fire destroyed the family's home, barns, and the Siebert Ranch vineyard, beginning a long replanting and recovery, and in 2023 Melissa took on a new chapter, acquiring the ACORN Winery brand from retiring friends to carry that Healdsburg field-blend legacy forward alongside their own.
