About Anakota

Anakota, from a Native American word meaning "above all," is master winemaker Pierre Seillan's exploration of Knights Valley, the remote, ancient volcanic zone bridging Sonoma and Napa Counties at the foot of 4,300-foot Mount St. Helena. Part of the Jackson Family's prestigious Spire Collection, the project is helmed by the same vigneron behind Vérité, whose Bordeaux-styled Sonoma wines have earned seven perfect 100-point scores from Robert Parker.

Anakota produces just two wines, both 100% single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from estate vines on the volcanic southwest-facing flanks of Mount St. Helena: Helena Dakota and Helena Montana, the latter earning scores as high as 99 points from major critics. The fractured volcanic rock and iron-rich clay naturally limit yields to small, concentrated berries, while Pacific breezes through the Mayacamas keep the mountain fruit fresh and age-worthy.

The Vérité winemaker's other project,Pierre Seillan, whose Vérité wines hold seven perfect 100-point Parker scores, crafts Anakota's two single-vineyard Knights Valley Cabernets.
Just two wines, both Cabernet,Anakota bottles only Helena Dakota and Helena Montana, single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons from estate vines beneath Mount St. Helena.
A name meaning above all,Anakota derives from a Native American word for "above all," reflecting both the vineyards' elevation and the project's ambition.
